Pincites connects directly to Filevine so you can work on matter documents without leaving Word. Browse your projects, pull documents into chat for context, and save your finished work back to Filevine — all from the Pincites task pane.

What you can do

  • Sign in with Filevine — use your existing Filevine credentials, no separate Pincites account needed
  • Attach a project to chat — give Pincites context about the matter you’re working on
  • Reference project documents — pull in specific files from a Filevine project as context for the AI
  • Save your Word document to Filevine — upload as a new document or as a revision of an existing file
  • Choose a destination folder — save directly into the right folder inside a project
  • Switch between organizations — if you belong to more than one Filevine org, pick which one to work in

Signing in

1

Open Pincites in Word

Launch the Pincites task pane from the Word ribbon.
2

Click Sign in with Filevine

A Filevine login window opens — enter your credentials and approve access.
3

Pick an organization

If your account belongs to multiple Filevine organizations, you’ll be prompted to pick one. You can change this later.
Once signed in, Pincites stays connected across sessions until you sign out. You can configure how long sessions last before requiring re-authentication in your Filevine session settings.

Attaching a Filevine project to chat

Attaching a project lets Pincites’ AI reference the matter you’re working on when answering questions or analyzing your document.
1

Open the project picker

In the chat input, click the Filevine project button.
2

Find your project

Search for the project by name.
3

Select documents (optional)

Expand the project and select specific documents to include as context.
4

Confirm

Click Use project.
The selected project appears as a tag above the chat input. Click the tag to change your selection, or click the × to remove it.

Saving your Word document to Filevine

When you’re ready to save your work back to Filevine:
1

Open Save to Filevine

Open the Pincites footer menu and choose Save to Filevine.
2

Choose a destination project

Search for and select the destination project.
3

Pick where to save

Browse into the folder you want to save to. Then either:
  • Select the folder to save your Word document as a new file in that folder, or
  • Click an existing document to save your Word document as a new version of that file
4

Save

Click Save.

Filename mismatch warning

When saving as a revision, Pincites checks that your Word filename matches the Filevine document’s name. If they differ, you’ll see a prompt so you can confirm you’re updating the right file before the upload completes.

After saving

You’ll see a confirmation with a direct link to the document in Filevine.

Switching Filevine organizations

If you belong to multiple Filevine orgs, your active org determines which projects and documents you see. To switch:
  1. Open Pincites settings.
  2. Select a different organization from the list.
Projects, folders, and documents will reload for the newly selected org.

Troubleshooting

Type / in the chat input to open the commands menu, where you’ll find the Filevine actions. If the Filevine commands still don’t appear, your Pincites account may not be linked to Filevine — sign out and sign back in using Sign in with Filevine.
Pincites only supports .docx and .pdf files as chat context. Other file types will appear in the list but can’t be selected.
Check that you still have permission to write to the selected project or folder in Filevine. If the problem persists, try signing out and back in to refresh your session.
